The first rule of reproducing any ornamental carving is to work out what tools the carver used. The tools are the carving, so picking gouges to fit the original shapes (cuts) gets you well on your way to matching the whole thing correctly.
Take a lot of care as you finish the secondary leaves. the remaining wood is wafer thin. The paper sandwich method of holding delicate work comes into its own here!
