2 Cutting Out

I use a power scrollsaw in this lesson to cut out the bow with its ribbons. I could have cut the pattern out by hand with a coping saw as an alternative.

To hold the workpiece I use the 'paper sandwich' method. The carving is quite delicate in parts, especially in the short grain along the free parts of the ribbon. You can see another lesson on the very useful paper sandwich technique here.
