We love showcasing our members carvings; after all, getting people to carve is what Woodcarving Workshops is all about! In the gallery you’ll see a wide range of carvings, from novice to advanced; each one the result of time and effort, inspiration and dedication. We value them all!

Green Man of Waxhaw

Project Owner: Tony Smith
Type of Wood: Basswood
Finish: BLO with beeswax finish
Dimensions: 8x11

Description:

Although I have been carving for many years it is just recently that I started using chisels and gouges instead of knives and power carving tools. This carving is obliviously based on Chris's Greenman design. My wife thought the original design a bit too scary so I changed the nose slightly and made the mouth more of an evil smirk rather than the original design. Overall I am pleased with the results although I know where all the improvements need to be made. Not that I'm telling anyone.
