Chinese Coat and Scarf

Project Owner: Charlie Keenan
Type of Wood: Lime
Finish: Stain and Lacquer
Dimensions: 20cm x 16cm

Description:

Due to moving, I hadn't been able to carve as was waiting for work to be completed and it took a long time. This is the first piece I tackled and the first in the round project. It's a copy of the top halve of a much bigger wood statue (6ft) owned by my sister that I love. I don't know the artist, but was bought in HK. I don't have large pieces of wood so the challenge was reducing it to the piece I had, yet keep the detail the statue has. The wood has been stained to bring out the scarf and then lacquered to get the sheen.
