Description:
This low-relief carving is based on a photograph of my childhood home in Wayne, Pennsylvania, circa 1889. The Victorian-style house was part of one of the first planned developments in the United States and has since been expanded several times, although the front profile remains similar today. This is my second carving of the house. In this carving, I experimented with stone texture for the foundation and improving the "empty" spaces on the porch. The main challenges were in identifying the relative planes on the roof. I have been carving for just over one year. I tried to apply the concepts Chris's Low-Relief Church project.
