Heraldic Lion

This low relief lion wraps up the 3-part Castle Book Project. Although Chris carved it into the wooden 'book', this iconic image lends itself to many other projects: door panels, house signs, children shields, blanket chests and so on.

What makes this carving truly unique is the combination of 'low' and 'sunken' relief (intaglio). It's unusual to see this combination of styles but I think you'll agree that the effect of our lion leaping on to the blank page is terrific.
