We need to get the main shape sorted first, which means, in carvers' terminology, 'bosting in', which we can see as a series of ever more refined 'passes' across the carving.
Before you ask, let me mention the baseball cap, the bill of which peeps into view occasionally. The thing is, I'm trying to carve with some pretty bright lights on me and sometimes I need a little shade!
Carrie has opted, on request, for some fairly long shots of me, 'just carving' and you'll see me thumping the handle with my palm a few times. Don't do that. You may damage nerves and tendons in your wrist.
