3 The Background

I think this is a fun stage; the letters just bounce off the board as the even 'ploughing' of the background contrasts dramatically with the untouched wood of the letters.

I reckon 97% of this sign was carved with just 2 tools and a mallet, rattling along really quickly.

I left the board untouched but you could (Danish) oil the background, leaving the letters to bleach in the sunshine of seal, say, with a matt artist's acrylic varnish.
