6-3 Lowering

Between the leaves and stalk are tricky areas to get our gouge into. But here's where rocking cuts and tool  corners come into their own. Feel free to turn the board around to get at the work better.

Spend time getting this stage right: even depth and clean cutting. You'll find the next stage, which finishes the surface, will go suprisingly quickly.

Thanks Chris. That is what I went with. Great fun. Finished it yesterday. Worked on your flower boarder today. That was fun too. Very satisfying way to spend the winter. Learned a lot already. Thanks!

Robert - It's about 1/8in. 3mm deep.

You may have mentioned it, but how deep is the V groove cut and the background?
