Wood dyes

Project Owner: Larry Day
Type of Wood: American basswood
Finish: Paste wax
Dimensions: Fox: 5.5"; Flowers: 3x4.5"

Description:

I carved a sleeping fox who looked quite naked in natural wood. So I bought a variety of 1-oz powdered wood dyes (http://wdlockwood.com) -- enough for a lifetime of carving -- and after some experimenting the red fox got his proper fur colors. Second image, on a variety of quickly carved flowers, etc. shows a fraction of color range available. These are the straight colors (not blended with others), unwaxed surface.
