Description:

Made from a single piece of Ash mounted on an Oak Plinth. I got the inspiration for this carving whilst on a walk one Sunday morning at my local nature reserve, seeing a green woodpecker clinging to the top of a fence post. I am pleased with the way the grain helps to define the plumage on the back and sides of the bird. To get the colour I wanted for the fence post I used some oil paint diluted with Danish oil to darken the wood and then used a silver wax to finish.
