The Cheese Tray

Project Owner: Harold Lanfear
Type of Wood: Black Cherry
Finish: Watco Natural Oil
Dimensions: 12" round

Description:

This is a take off the Pie Crust Tray, but with the mouse added, as inspired by Chris's 'Frog Bowl' and Donna Menke's 'Peeking Mouse' design. It is carved from a single block of Cherry. All the ribbon and edging was completed by hand carving. A router was used to rough out the diameter and set depth and round over the back, except around the mouse. It took me about a year to finish, including a 3 month hiatus to figure out how to do certain cuts on the mouse.
