Project Owner: Pete Bennett
Type of Wood: European Oak
Finish: Wax
Dimensions: 2000mm x 1300mm 500mm

Description:

This is the latest piece for the Oak Dining Room suite. It is hoped that the illusion of a stack of air drying slabs is apparent for the seat base. However it is completely hollow to fill with logs for the winter. I cut the end grain pieces from some real Oak butts and mitered them to the 54mm frontals before carving a representation of bark on their edges. It's a fairly heavy Beast but exceedingly comfortable. I have a strict policy, If I make an uncomfortable seat it goes immediately into the fire!
