Description:
I was asked to make a rocking sea turtle representing a toy and an art piece — an heirloom to be passed down through the generations. Asian teak was selected mainly for its durability. This took considerable time to scale up and obtain references. I was fortunate to photograph a sea turtle in an aquarium. Modeling allowed experimentation with concepts, in addition to guiding my carving.
