We love showcasing our members carvings; after all, getting people to carve is what Woodcarving Workshops is all about! In the gallery you’ll see a wide range of carvings, from novice to advanced; each one the result of time and effort, inspiration and dedication. We value them all!

Project Owner: Bruce Kleeberger
Type of Wood: Basswood
Finish: Linseed oil, furniture wax
Dimensions: 30cm high
This piece was from a wrought, but diverted significantly from the original design (at least below the neck!). If I had to do it again, I would use bees wax as recommended by Chris to finish, as I found the final product too glossy. I found the texture of the hair very difficult in this project, but it was much easier than many of my other pieces because their were no places where the carving was through and through. It was fun, but I wonder if there is a market for this sort of carving in wood?
