More Sophisticated House Sign

Project Owner: Derek Cox
Type of Wood: Australian Red Cedar Panel, Camphor Laurel Sapwood Banner
Finish: Tung based natural oil blend and wax
Dimensions: Approx 1.2 m by 0.7

Description:

This project combined a few elements. The frame is a border created by outwardly sloping panels that forms a funnel or hopper shape, in the style of Temple signs that you often see in Japan. The banner is a relief carving , not too dissimilar to what Chris has demonstrated on a couple of projects on the site here. On the Banner and the frame panel I have some incised letter carving utilising two fonts from Chris' book 'Lettercarving in Wood'
