Chris & Carrie

Medieval Book

Project Owner: Lee Forester
Type of Wood: Lime
Finish: Kitchen and bathroom oil
Dimensions: 40cm x 24cm

Description:

I saw Chris's open book project and decided to make one as a birthday present for my sister. I finished the pages in kitchen and bathroom oil with a white tint which gave me a good surface to paint the design with acrylic paints without it bleeding into the wood. I finished the cover of the book with un-tinted kitchen and bathroom oil to give it some contrast to the pages. I enjoyed the project as it's very different from anything I've done before and I also gained an appreciation of medieval manuscripts and calligraphy.
