We love showcasing our members carvings; after all, getting people to carve is what Woodcarving Workshops is all about! In the gallery you’ll see a wide range of carvings, from novice to advanced; each one the result of time and effort, inspiration and dedication. We value them all!

Description:
My second carving, and I’m pleased to say the background is a good deal flatter than the first. Didn’t pay enough attention to the video for the bottom three “nicks” in the feather (tut!): I tried to excavate them right down to the background. I think the top ones are a little better, with the benefit of re-watching Chris, but this technique needs more practise. I am very happy with the overall result and couldn’t bear to trash it by texturing the feather with my less-than-perfect v gouge. I may attack the background with linseed oil once I get some turpentine to thin it.
This project was done by a carver with less than 12 months experience.
