Acanthus leaves

Project Owner: Bradley Apelgren
Type of Wood: Bass and rock maple
Finish: Boiled linseed oil
Dimensions: 8 inches x 6 inches

The first is an Acanthus leaf in the Greek style. I focused on having the leaf float on the wood and so there are many places where I have carved through. The other leaves are part of the Acanthus leaf projects on this site and I mounted them to create art pieces. I could not believe how hard the rock maple was to carve. I guess that’s how it got it’s name .

This project was done by a carver with less than 12 months experience.
