Description:

I am a 75 yrs old and live in Summerville, SC (west of Charleston). Carving 25 yrs, I considered Chris my teacher since 2000. I read all his books and joined this site in 2014. His style is simple and clean. This piece attracted me because of my love of the sea, I'm sure. The challenge of dealing with its intersecting planes taught me a great deal. I'm convinced Brazilian Cherry is devil wood, as it exposed every weakness in my skills, i.e. splitting, chipping, twisting grain, all of it.
